Reviews:
” …Stupnitsky and Phillips have no real way out of this story, so they turn to the usual break-up-to-make-up stuff to lead the way, eliminating a more potent conclusion that might honestly deal with an unusual relationship formed in deception. No Hard Feelings ends up uneven and unlikable, but it doesn’t start there, especially with Lawrence’s spirited, crisp work keeping the effort as appealing as possible.” 5 out of 10, Blu-ray.com
” …appear to be missed opportunities to explore sex further beyond comedic purposes. It peaks as a comedy somewhere in the first half, remaining effective enough everywhere else. Otherwise, this is a legitimately raunchy riot, with equally game performances from Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Barth Feldman.” 3.5 out of 5, Flickering Myth
” …there are some great scenes, chiefly one in which Maddie, stark naked, comes up to some bullies on the beach who have stolen her clothes while she and Percy were skinny dipping and proceeds to beat them up. There is also Maddie’s generational dismay in crashing a high-school party to confront Percy after an argument. It shows what a comedy turn Lawrence can still be.” 3 out of 5, The Guardian
“With humor intermittent, a low hit-to-miss ratio, No Hard Feelings comes dangerously close to becoming unwatchable, but Lawrence salvages scene after scene, mixing perfectly timed line deliveries with physical comedy rarely present in her previous roles. Her performance here certainly won’t win her any awards, let alone nominations, but it’ll serve as a reminder of what a charismatic, old-school movie star like Lawrence can deliver when given the opportunity.” Screen Anarchy
“The narrative is also very much a gender-swapped Taming of the Shrew, and it felt limited because of that because, from the start, you know entirely how the film will end. Many tonal dissonances also took you away from the narrative, and many comedic moments didn’t land […] This is a very adult comedy, and that will be off-putting for many people.” 3 out of 5, TL;DR
