THE UNRAVELING Psychological horror – trailer – VOD on October 8

The Unraveling is a 2023 American psychological horror film about a woman who suffers a traumatic brain injury and is haunted by a gruesome presence and the suspicion that her husband has been replaced by an imposter.

Directed and co-produced by Kd Amond (Faye; What Would Dolly Do? The Big Short; Five Women in the End) from a screenplay co-written with co-producer Sarah Zanotti. Also produced by Nichole Lim and Ryan James Allen.

The AZ if Productions movie stars Sarah Zanotti (Faye; Rattled; Archaon: The Halloween Summoning) and Sam Brooks (Malum; Stargirl series; Fear Street: Part Two – 1978).

Plot:
After suffering a traumatic brain injury from a car accident, Mary Dunne (Sarah Zanotti) is convinced that her husband, Grayson, has been replaced by an impostor.

Mary receives phone calls from an unknown caller who claims to be the “real Grayson,” causing Mary to suspect that she’s living in a parallel universe with impostors who are gaslighting her and keeping her against her will. Tensions reach a breaking point when Mary finds out she is pregnant with the supposed impostor’s baby…

“The small cast were all good, mainly it is just the two characters, but Katherine Morgan as Mary’s mother and the actor who played the therapist both gave good performances. The look of the demonic creature was decent enough, a humanoid-like figure who appeared to be covered in a black oily substance, with contact lenses to complete the look. I liked how this creature was inserted into scenes, often showing up in the background…” 7/10 The Rotting Zombie

The Unraveling will have its world premiere at the Nashville Film Festival on September 30, 2023. The film is released on VOD on October 8, 2024.
