Do Not Disturb is a 2022 American horror film about a honeymooning couple who take a peyote trip to strengthen their marriage. Unfortunately, the situation quickly turns into a narcotic and bloody nightmare. The result is described as “a psychedelic exploration of love, lust and carnal desire.”

Written, directed and scored by John Ainslie (The Sublet; writer of Queen of Spades; Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer). Produced by Diliana Alexander, Rebeka Herron and Rechna Varma. Executive produced by Michael Baker, Brendan McNeill and Patrick White.

The movie stars Kimberly Laferriere, Rogan Christopher, Janet Porter, Christian McKenna, Rupinder Nagra and Patrick McNeil.

Do Not Disturb is a “grotesque, looming, filthy, and full of visceral horror.” and offers “thoughtful meditations on the hunger of love, with moments of eerie beauty, this is a daring film whose spell will stay with you, creepy crawling down your spine long after the credits roll.”

Do Not Disturb starts out as a romantic comedy and ends as a “good for her” horror movie. It occupies two very distinct spaces and mashes them together into a nightmarish stew you can’t help but enjoy […] also serves as a magnifying glass on the damage inflicted by toxic relationships. Come for the pettiness, stay for the carnage.” 3.5 out of 5, Dread Central

“Laferriere and Christopher are great as the lead pair and seem to have a lot of fun reveling in the bloody carnage of their drug trip. The cinematography offers creative visuals for Chloe and Jack’s drugged perspectives and the make-up and props for their bloody celebrations are quite good. The film’s uniqueness sets it apart from other horror fare and adds to its charm.” 4 out of 5 stars, Flickering Myth

Do Not Disturb is an excellent study of the breakdown of a relationship. Close to being a contender for this year’s “good for her ” genre film, Ainslie’s film is as all-consuming as the relationship it is showcasing. The heartbreak of Honeymoon came in the destruction of a solid union. In Do Not Disturb the destruction of the core relationship is where the beauty in the film lies.” 4 out of 5 stars, The Hollywood News

Do Not Disturb had its world premiere at the Popcorn Frights Festival in Florida on Friday, August 19, 2022, and a virtual nationwide premiere on Saturday, August 20.
In the US, Dark Star Pictures will release the movie theatrically on November 17, 2023, and then digitally on November 21, 2023.

Writer-director John Ainslie commented: “Producer Rechna Varma and I are delighted to have Do Not Disturb‘s world premiere at Popcorn Frights in Miami at the historic O Cinema just steps away from the beaches and ocean where we filmed. Having worked on the project for nearly a decade it was important to find a festival that loved and cared about the film as much as we do, and to find that and be welcomed in our adopted hometown makes it all the sweeter.”
