Mutant Ghost Wargirl is a 2022 sci-fi action film about an agent who must infiltrate a mysterious hospital that creates mutants.
Directed by Binjie Liu (Luban si jie zhi Fu long hai yan) from a screenplay written by Ye Xiao. The Chinese movie stars Miya Muqi, Mu Qimiya, Li Mingxuan, Liu Beige, Cui Zhenzhen and Mou Fengbin.
Plot:
Wu Qingqing (Miya Muqi) is an agent of the International Security Alliance (Combating Mutant Crime). She was ordered to sneak into Medusa Plastic Surgery Hospital to collect criminal evidence that its directly affiliated consortium secretly researched gene induction fluid and created mutant warriors. Wu Qingqing successfully sneaked in but was accidentally forcibly injected with a gene-inducing fluid.
With the help of her colleague Fatty Wang, she escaped from the Medusa underground laboratory but was hunted down along the way. Affected by the gene induction fluid, her memory suffered temporary confusion and loss. Fortunately, Zhou Yang rescued her and successfully passed the period of intense genetic mutation.
Different from Medusa’s past failures, Wu Qingqing’s gene-drug fusion rate miraculously exceeded 40%, attracting the attention of the Medusa organization and being comprehensively hunted down. Wu Qingqing is in crisis, and her life hangs on a thread. At the critical moment, Wu Qingqing’s gene fusion rate exceeded 50%, and she had a weird speed that was no different from a “ghost”. With the amazing martial arts that she had practised since she was a child, she fights back with all her might…

“Story logic must not have been a priority because there were huge lapses in narrative and logic. A romance was shoe-horned in, developing quicker than Ghost’s super speed given the whole story took place over a day or two. ” …the actors and actresses in the movie did fair jobs with their given roles, especially since they didn’t have all that much of a thoroughly deep script to work with. Visually then Mutant Ghost Wargirl was quite good. I liked the CGI effects in the movie, and given the fast pace of the movie, then the special effects were a welcomed addition. Release:
In the US, Mutant Ghost Wargirl is available on the Hi-Yah! channel. In Germany, it has been released on Blu-ray and DVD. The movie will be shown at the Fantasporto International Film Festival in Port, Portugal on March 2 and March 9, 2024.
