Nosferatu is a 2024 American Gothic horror film about the obsession between a haunted young woman and an ancient Transylvanian vampire who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.
The movie is the second remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 German silent horror classic which was previously remade in 1979 by Werner Herzog.
Written, directed and co-produced by Robert Eggers (The Northman; The Lighthouse; The Witch).
The production stars Bill Skarsgård (IT), Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Simon McBurney and Ralph Ineson.
In April 2024, CinemaCon attendees witnessed the first look and transformation of Bill Skarsgård (also starring in The Crow reboot) into the legendary vampire, Count Orlok. In an interview with Empire magazine, Eggars expressed his concern that Skarsgård’s profound transformation might overshadow the brilliance of his performance. The filmmaker envisions a portrayal that pays homage to the legendary performances of Max Schreck and Klaus Kinski while carving its unique place in cinematic history.
Previously, writer-director Robert Eggers told Empire Magazine: “It’s a scary film. It’s a horror movie. It’s a Gothic horror movie. And I do think that there hasn’t been an old-school Gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while. And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case.”
Release:
Nosferatu will be released by Focus Features on December 25, 2024.
