‘Witness terror on a gigantic scale’
Beware Boiúna is a 2026 monster movie about a team of doctors who embark on a mission to the Amazon rainforest, but it soon becomes clear that not everybody – or everything – is happy to see them. Their sudden appearance draws the attention of an animal predator, the “Boiúna.”, a creature from Amazonian folklore.

The Boiúna is traditionally depicted as an enormous supernatural serpent capable of inhabiting and controlling the waterways. The film appears to take that legend and turn it into a giant-monster survival movie, with the creature presented as an ancient, colossal predator.

The movie was directed by Mike P. Nelson, best known for The Domestics, Wrong Turn (2021) and Silent Night, Deadly Night.

The Constantin Film/JB Pictures co-production stars Logan Marshall-Green, Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) and Kiana Madeira.

Plot:
A team of young doctors travels deep into the Amazon rainforest on a humanitarian medical mission. What initially appears to be a straightforward expedition quickly becomes something considerably more dangerous when their presence attracts the attention of an enormous predator known as the Boiúna.

The creature is an ancient apex predator that dominates both land and water, and the doctors suddenly find themselves trapped in an environment where they are no longer the hunters but the prey. As the Boiúna begins reclaiming its territory, the group’s mission turns into a desperate struggle for survival.

The survivors must navigate the rainforest and river system while attempting to understand how to evade—or confront—the gigantic serpent. With the jungle itself becoming part of the threat, loyalties and the distinction between hunter, prey and hero become increasingly uncertain…

Release date:
The film is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on October 2, 2026, by Lionsgate and runs approximately 104 minutes.
