10/31: Part 4 is a 2024 horror anthology film in which Malvolia hosts the annual Monster Marathon on Halloween, showcasing four indie horror tales. Also known as 10/31: Part IV
The segments were written and directed by independent filmmakers Dustin Ferguson, Dylan R. Nix, Matthew McManus, Ryan Sheets and Taylor McManus. The cast includes Anastasia Elfman, Jordan Hundley, Matthew Beaton, Rachael Rabinovitz and Sayeed Bensalama, alongside scream queen Brinke Stevens.
The Grayhouse Entertainment anthology offers four varied stories. A cursed VHS tape unleashes a masked killer into the real world, a grieving chocolatier takes revenge on his town with poison, witches burned in the 1960s come back to haunt a group of social media influencers, and a werewolf closes the show. It’s a mix that blends analog nostalgia with modern anxieties, the kind of contrast anthologies do best: a story about a haunted video cassette sits comfortably next to a tale about online fame.
The cursed tape has a proud lineage. The Video Dead (1987) imagined zombies spilling out of a television set, Ringu (1998) turned a videotape into a vessel of curse, and V/H/S (2012) built an entire found-footage anthology around the format. Those films reflect how each generation of technology becomes a source of fear.
The series itself began with 10/31 in 2017, which premiered at the Death By Festival in Austin, Texas, and has returned with new installments that keep the same host and the same spirit: short stories, practical effects and a love of the holiday. Brinke Stevens has appeared in dozens of low-budget horror titles since the early 1980s, so her presence here is a nod to the genre’s independent roots.
Anthologies also reward repeat viewing: because each segment is independent, fans often pick favourites and return to them, and a series that reaches a fourth installment suggests a loyal audience of seasonal viewers. New viewers can start with this chapter without any homework, because the stories are self-contained.
