BAD MILO! Toilet humour horror – reviews and free online – recommended

‘He’s one angry little sh-t.’
Bad Milo! is a 2013 comedy horror film co-scripted and directed by Jacob Vaughan. The movie stars Ken Marino (The BabysitteriZombie TV series; GoosebumpsHaunted TV series), Gillian Jacobs and Peter Stormare.

Plot:
Duncan (Ken Marino) is a man whose life is a real pain in the backside. Tormented by a manipulative, crooked boss (Patrick Warburton), a nagging mother (Mary Kay Place), a deadbeat new-age dad (Stephen Root), and a sweet, yet pressuring, wife (Gillian Jacobs), his mounting stress starts to trigger an insufferable gastrointestinal reaction.

Out of ideas and at the end of his rope, Duncan seeks the help of a hypnotherapist (Peter Stormare), who helps him discover the root of his unusual stomach pain: a pint-sized demon living in his intestine that, when triggered by excessive anxiety, forces its way out and slaughters the people who have angered him.

Out of fear that his intestinal gremlin may target the wrong person, Duncan attempts to befriend it, naming it Milo and indulging it to keep its seemingly insatiable appetite at bay. Will he manage to keep his butt-birthed creature under control?

Reviews:
” …for a film that draws a lot of inspiration from the likes of Basket CaseBad Biology and Ghoulies the fact that it goes off in its own direction gives it a bit of an original edge and that, along with being able to make you laugh – and you will – and go “URGH!” a few times makes Bad Milo! a solid bit of fun that won’t change your life but will entertain you for 80 minutes.” Ancient Slumber

“With a little tweaking and expansion of plot and characters, I think this movie could have done better, but I do think the criticism was a bit harsh on it (probably by viewers that couldn’t get past the plot).” =Basement Rejects

“It’s clear from the beginning that Milo is a metaphor. What’s also clear is that he’s only employing that blatant metaphor to make a hopelessly trite assertion that a person has to confront her or his problems in life rather than attempt to ignore them. Take it from me. Bad Milo is one problem you should ignore.” Battleship Pretension

” …enjoyment of Bad Milo is largely dependent upon how much humor someone finds in the concept of a colon creature. If that person laughs at cries of constipation and the sounds of toilet water splashing, then all the better. Yet as a well-rounded comedy, Bad Milo is missing a snappier pace and more confidence in intelligent jokes that would have given it a broader appeal.” Culture Crypt

” …the show is stolen by comedian Kumail Nanjiani (Hell Baby) in his small role as the too-young lover of Duncan’s oversexed mother (Mary Kay Place, The Big Chill). Toilet humor isn’t for everyone, yet oddly, Bad Milo! seems cleaner than its raunchy, R-rated brothers, likely because the jokes are delivered as black as bile.” Flick Attack

” …a rather average affair. It has all of that Tales From the Crypt dark humour and bizarre joviality to it, but Bad Milo! just doesn’t hit every mark fully. The movie is funny, but it the jokes of Milo escaping from his butt get old quickly and once that is gone, there isn’t much else to write home about.” Flickering Myth

The credit not only goes to those who designed and built Milo but the puppeteers who operate the little monster who do such a wonderful job of making him a little terror one minute and this wide-eyed cute critter the next […] Bad Milo! is a lot of fun when you watch it as it has that wonderful mix of horror, comedy and cute. But it isn’t a movie which is so good that you will feel you need to watch it again.” The Movie Scene

“You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll be grossly shocked, but most importantly, you’re going to love Bad Milo! for the crazy genre hybrid it is. Horror fans, here is that one, big, “you can’t miss this” independent gem of a genre movie for 2013. Don’t be the lame-o who ignores such a rewarding cinematic watch – about a butt demon.” We Got This Covered
