The Harvest is a 2013 American horror feature film directed by John McNaughton (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer; The Borrower) from a screenplay by Stephen Lancellotti (Digger) for Elephant Eye Films.

A couple who keeps their sick son in a secluded environment find their controlled lives challenged by a young girl who moves in next door.

Reviews:

” …an eccentric, character-rich chiller more akin to classic Stephen King (think Stand by Me) than anything being done in horror these days … Adding to the film’s refreshingly timeless quality is a series of old-fashioned decisions that serve to set the tone, as McNaughton insists on shooting on celluloid, ordering a full orchestral score and working with first-rate actors instead of expendable nobodies.” Peter Debruge, Variety

“While there are several standout moments in the film, it’s constantly marred by an underwhelming screenplay that has a few too many inconsistencies to support the development of tension or believability. The insistent need for extravagant twists undermines the logic of the narrative, something unnecessary here considering the intensity of the performances.” Nicholas Bell, ION Cinema!
