Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens is a 2016 American comedy horror film directed by Anthony C. Ferrante from a screenplay by Thunder Levin for The Asylum. It stars include Tara Reid, Cody Linley, and Masiela Lusha among many more.

The film premiered on July 31, 2016.

The fourth entry of the Sharknado franchise takes place five years after the East Coast was ravaged in last summer’s Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! Fin (Ian Ziering), his family and the cosmos have been blissfully sharknado-free in the intervening years, but now sharks – and ‘nados! – are being whipped up in places (and ways) least expected.

David Hasselhoff (as Gil Shepard) and Ryan Newman (as Claudia Shepard) reprised their Sharknado 3 roles. New additions to the cast included Gary Busey (Silver Bullet; Piranha 3DD), Tommy Davidson, Imani Hakim, Masiela Lusha and Cheryl Tiegs.

Reviews:

“A critical evaluation of Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens is absolutely pointless—while fans of the series may get something out of the sequel, there’s nothing on display that could possibly sway naysayers or those whose have avoided the series so far. To all, Sharknado 4 will be forgotten in a month or so.” RogerEbert.com

“We don’t really watch a movie a like Sharknado 4 for the plot. We watch it for the communal experience. Last Sunday was Sharknado Day and it seems like the entire world was on twitter, talking about Sharknado 4. The majority of us weren’t tweeting about the plot. Instead, we were acknowledging that we had picked up on the in-jokes and the references to other films.” Through the Shattered Lens
