CREEP 2 (2017) Reviews and overview

Creep 2 is a 2017 American horror thriller directed by Patrick Brice from a screenplay co-written with Mark Duplass, who also stars, alongside Desiree Akhavan. The film is a sequel to Brice’s well-received 2014 film Creep.

Sara (Desiree Akhavan) is a video artist whose primary focus is creating intimacy with lonely men. After finding an ad online for “video work” she thinks she may have found the subject of her dreams. She drives to a remote house in the forest and meets a man claiming to be a serial killer (Mark Duplass).

Unable to resist the chance to create a truly shocking piece of art, she agrees to spend the day with him. However, as the day goes on she discovers she may have dug herself into a hole she can’t escape…

Brice has commented: “We are overjoyed to bring the next chapter of Creep into the world! The fact that audiences have embraced the first film in such an unexpected way has been so heartening. We hope Creep 2 with bring a new level of fear, discomfort, and joy to loyal fans and newcomers alike.”

“Duplass’ performance is nothing short of brilliant. He has an ability to shift from awkward to charming to terrifying and back to hilarious within the same scene, often within a single sentence. Akhavan plays Sara very close to the chest, rarely revealing her emotions or allowing herself to overly express what’s going on in her mind.” Dread Central

“It remains the quintessential Mark Duplass show insofar as his normal looking, character actor screen presence can be pushed in the contradictory directions of charming, pathetic and sinister all at the same time. He knows what the audience wants, and he manages to find a way to deliver that thing with a sort of weaponized pandering that never feels as such.” Screen Anarchy

” …Creep 2 is just as unsettling and entertaining as the original, you guessed, if not more so. The added element of a female protagonist this time around is used in ways you will not expect and Duplass goes a bang-up job, yet again, in bringing an unpredictably to his character that might have just met his match with Desiree Akhavan’s Sara.” Arrow in the Head
