The original core cast – Abigail Breslin, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone – all reprise their roles. And the original film’s screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool and its sequel), are also back on board while also serving as executive producers. Gavin Polone is once again the main producer.
“Zombieland: Double Tap is chock full of gut-busting, stomach-churning laughs. It’s just not likely to stick with you afterward. One can’t help but leave the theater, giggling, but wondering why it took ten years to revisit the characters, and why after all that time they didn’t have a more exciting new adventure to share with us.” Bloody Disgusting
” …the ensemble is charming enough at providing laughs and excitement to carry this sequel into winning territory. There is most definitely a minimum of two set-pieces (one of them impressively crafted as a lengthy tracking shot) that are a riot to behold. It’s no Zombie Movie of the Year (that honor belongs to Little Monsters), but it’s still a blast.” Flickering Myth
“It does the smart thing of keeping its runtime low, making for a fast-paced film with little time to stop and think, but it also has funny sequences that don’t quite fit, repeated jokes that no longer work, new characters that aren’t given enough to do, dull new characters who should have never been there, and an ending that is fine, but doesn’t feel conclusive.” The Hollywood News
“Remember when Ed sacrificed himself in Shaun of the Dead? Comedies can still make us feel something – Zombieland 2 is just a little one-note […] The years of development hell this film went through is written all over the screen and clearly character and relationship development were substituted for jokey banter and a few action scenes – which, while expertly shot, take the heart out of an otherwise entertaining zombie comedy.” Horrorscreams Videovault
Woody Harrelson told Entertainment Weekly: “What we’ve shot so far, I’m really impressed with. Getting to hang out with these guys — Emma, and Abbie, and Jesse, and Ruben — I feel so lucky, really, really lucky. You know, it’s literally laughing all day long, and that’s your job. Like, my job is, I laugh all day long? It seems unbelievable. So, I feel really lucky right now.”
Jesse Eisenberg told Movie Web: “It’s going really well. Just resting on our laurels and really cocky [laughs]. No, the opposite. We’re working so hard. It’s one of these movies that, people loved it for personal reasons. So it’s not just a big hit movie. People love it for personal reasons so you want to make sure it’s as funny and as personal as the other one.”
On February 22, 2019, it was revealed that Luke Wilson (Vacancy; Sole Survivor; Scream 2) has joined the cast.

“In Zombieland 2, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, the zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.”
