Scare Attraction is a 2019 British horror feature film about reality TV stars being menaced and murdered in an escape room.
Written and directed by Steven M. Smith (Doll Cemetery; The Haunting of Borley Rectory; The Doll Master; et al), the Greenway Entertainment-Rellik Films production stars Tony Fadil (Nightmare on 34th Street; House of Salem), Sonera Angel (Dead Again; The Haunting of Borley Rectory), Primrose Bigwood (Dead Again) and Elliot Cable.
‘Love Nest’ reality TV stars Peter and Susie attend a Halloween scare attraction arranged by their manager. When they arrive, Pete and Susie are disappointed to discover the event is run by a group of terrible amateur dramatic actors. After touring the scare attraction they are led into an escape room, where they are locked in.
Suddenly, the escape room turns deadly as gas leaks in leaving them unconscious. When they awake, the reality TV stars find themselves bound and trapped in individual chairs. A voice tells them they must tell a truth or die. Who will survive the real scare attraction?
“Whilst the horror is all but non-existent the film is worth a watch. Take into consideration a 4-day turnaround on a feature film and regardless of what it looks like, that’s no mean feat. Credit where credit is due. Not bad, not bad at all.” Back to the Movies
“There’s a recurrent scene where visitors to the attraction walk into the clown room (filmed in night vision) and are scared by the sight of a greasepainted urchin. This happens again and again to pad out the running time […] If I’d seen this before any of Smith’s other films, well let’s just say that I would never have seen any of his other films. Truly putrid.” Dark Eyes of London
“There’s some flourishes of brilliance in the film, in particular the footage featuring scenes from “other” scare attractions (which pad out this films short running time) […] and the slow-mo scenes of our “contestants” trying to escape the haunted house once they’re free of the escape room. It’s just a shame that the rest of the film can’t live up to those brief slices of genius.” Nerdly
” …a turgid affair full of unlikable characters that you care little about, and hope to spend the minimum amount of time in the company of. It’s a shame, as it’s clear that there’s an artistic eye lying deep with the director’s psyche…” The Schlock Pit
