‘Only the strongest will survive this night’

Dead by Dawn is a 2020 American horror thriller film about a disaffected man who has to protect a kidnapped woman from three sadistic killers.

Directed, co-produced and edited by Sean Cain (Utero; Terror Birds; Jurassic City; Silent Night, Zombie Night) from a screenplay written by Wes Laurie, based on Cain’s storyline, the Velvet Hammer Films production stars Drew Lindsey Mitchell, Kelcey Watson, Bo Burroughs, Timothy Muskatell, Bobby Slaski, Detra Hicks, Skylar Dominique and Jamie Bernadette (Ash and Bone; 4/20 Massacre; American Satan; et al).

Plot:

A man who is about to give up on life in a remote cabin is suddenly faced with protecting a kidnapped woman from three killers and their sadistic games.

Unable to contact the outside world and with night falling, he falls backs on creating traps to prevent the criminals from gaining entry. It’s a fight to the death where only the strongest will survive until dawn…

Reviews:

“Not a bad film by any stretch of the imagination, Dead By Dawn just suffers from a lack of restraint come the denouement. A bit more of that and we could have had a truly superb dark home invasion thriller on our hands. As it is this is merely above average – mainly thanks to the more extreme parts of its story.” Nerdly

“It creates maximum tension rather early and then never lets loose, it doesn’t shy away from violence, its villains are properly ruthless – but it’s also well-crafted, carefully structured to really build up to a finale rather than just numb the viewer with an onslaught of brutality, and it features interesting characters and character arcs.” Search My Trash

“The idea of a man who wants to die being forced to fight for his life to protect somebody else has a lot of potential. Sadly Dead By Dawn lets it go to waste. Despite that, Dead By Dawn does deliver. There’s enough suspense built up to make the final attack on the cabin work. And the attack itself comes off quite nicely with some nice traps and a solid final showdown.” Voices from the Balcony

Dead by Dawn will be available on DVD and Digital on April 7, 2020, via Uncork’d Entertainment.
