Reviews:

“The character who arguably has the most screentime and character development is Jim, which is fitting since he is essentially the character who jumpstarted the Tales of Arcadia saga […] Another standout element of Rise of the Titans is its action sequences and visuals […] Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans is a beautiful and heartwrenching conclusion to Guillermo del Toro’s Tales of Arcadia saga.” But Why Tho?

“As a finale, the focus here is naturally on action and denouement over character development, but that can leave newbies behind, and those unfamiliar with the series may find this world a bit impenetrable […] But fans will likely be delighted, especially by an intriguing twist at the end.” Common Sense Media

“Until an announcement proves me wrong, it doesn’t appear as of now that Rise of the Titans will lead to follow-ups in the franchise. The conclusion of the Arcadia saga has its visual glories and kick butt imagination and humor. But you’ll wonder if your favorite characters are given their due.” Den of Geek

Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans raises the stakes and visuals to blockbuster levels, delivering a dark, epic globetrotting adventure full of action while giving us an emotional conclusion to Jim’s story. However, the big ensemble might’ve benefited more from a season of television, with many of the characters’ arcs feeling rushed.” IGN

“Overall, Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans is a movie that everyone can enjoy regardless of age. There are elements that keep it interesting and fun and the action sequences are done very well. If you’re looking for an innocent and entertaining movie full of magic and action, then this is not a bad bet.” Leisure Byte

“As a sight-and-sound exercise, Trollhunters is frequently remarkable, and it has its share of sweet or impactful character moments too. But its themes are tokenistic, it can’t commit to real dramatic import when the time comes, and there’s a sense of contrivance in the final stretch that makes the drama feel a lot less organic […] Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans prioritizes spectacle over storytelling.” Ready Steady Cut

“It’s a film brimming with neon-lit visuals, awe-inspiring action and some pulsating set pieces. There’s a lot to like with this, and seeing all of our favourite characters back is certainly great to see. While Rise of the Titans is beautifully rendered and heart-wrenching at times, the plot and its over-reliance on MacGuffins puts a damper on this conclusive chapter.” The Review Geek
