Ash and Bone is a 2021 American horror film about a city family that ventures into the backwoods and encounters a terrifying urban legend.

Directed by Harley Wallen (Beneath Us All; Agramon’s Gate; Taken Over) from a screenplay written by Bret Miller (Dwarfhammer; Beneath Us All). Produced by Annette Cama, Harley Wallen, Nancy Oeswein and Kaiti Wallen.

The Painted Creek Productions-Cama Productions-Auburn Moon co-production stars Jamie Bernadette, Mel Novak, Harley Wallen, Calhoun Koenig and Angelina Danielle Cama.

Plot:
Rebellious teen named Cassie Vanderbilt (Angelina Danielle Cama), whose wild streak escalates as her caring father Lucas (Harley Wallen) decides to take her and his new wife Sarah (Kaiti Wallen) out of the city for some bonding and quality time together.

However, after Cassie crosses the infamous McKinley family (Jimmy Doom, Erika Hoveland), it becomes clear that sometimes danger lies hidden in the weeds, ready to strike at any moment…

Reviews:
“Things proceed along a fairly linear route, towards the expected finale, in which the McKinleys pay a visit to the Vanderbilts, and Cassie’s anti-social tendencies and refusal to give a f*ck, become positive – or, at least, useful – traits. I found myself warming to her Goth sullenness over the course of proceedings, and if there’s nothing particularly original here, it hits the expected marks with energy and is technically adept to boot.” Film Blitz

Ash and Bone teases a whole lot of violence as it explores local legends with a ferociousness in its atmosphere and form which is to be commended. As a result, the McKinnley House is not soon forgotten. Nor, is what goes down inside its twisted hallways.” Reel Reviews

“A pretty cool piece of horror, especially since despite its subject matter it doesn’t just fall back on slasher, backwoods or survival horror tropes but is strong on character building, and that’s just as interested (and as interesting) in its backstory as in its scenes of suspense and violence.” Search My Trash

“The final act does manage to build up some suspense, even if the supposed big twist is yet another huge cliché. And it’s really frustrating because from a technical standpoint Wallen is a good filmmaker […] Between a predictable, derivative script and a lack of onscreen shocks, Ash and Bone is a dull horror/thriller hybrid…” 1/5, Voices from the Balcony
