‘The end is here’
4 Horsemen: Apocalypse is a 2022 American disaster horror film about a team of scientists facing a cascade of global disasters.

Directed by Geoff Meed (Asteroid-a-Geddon; The Amityville Haunting) from a screenplay co-written with Lauren Pritchard (Moon CrashPlanet DuneRobot Apocalypse) and Joe Roche (Devil’s Triangle; Alien Conquest; Meteor Moon; Collision Earth). Produced by Paul Bales and David Michael Latt. Executive produced by David Rimawi.

The Asylum production stars Dominique Swain, Eva Ceja, Stamaur Mitchell, Marco Neves, Eric St. John and Arie Thompson.

Plot:
A small team of scientists must race against time to stop what seems to be a cascade of global disasters signalling the possible apocalypse…

Our view:
Anyone familiar with The Asylum’s oeuvre will have to come to expect mostly threadbare productions, with an abundance of cheaper-to-film talky scenes, perhaps enlivened by the occasional moments of movie madness. Unfortunately, 4 Horsemen: Apocalypse is a particularly poor example of how the company cuts corners just to chalk up another release.

Opening with suitably apocalyptic stock footage from across the globe, it rapidly cuts to a couple of guys with guns running around in the Hollywood hills. It’s especially frustrating given the potential of the Biblical subject matter and those looking forward to the appearance of the titular four horsemen will be disappointed by their blink-and-you’ll-miss appearance.

Other reviews:
“As is usually the case with Asylum films the last half hour does manage to pick up the pace. One character becomes possessed, a lake starts spitting out glowing explosive blobs and a swarm of locusts attacks a helicopter that just happened to be sitting around a junkyard ready to fly. But even during the locust attack, there are more interior shots of people talking about it than shots of the CGI bugs.” 1 out of 5 Voices from the Balcony
