Reviews:
Bitch Ass touches on a number of themes regarding being Black in America, but never deals with any in a meaningful manner. The film is more concerned with delivering gruesome fun than a strong message. It may not bring anything new to the table, but that does not prevent it from being entertaining.” AIPT

“With standout production design by Jeremy Jonathan White and cinematography by Steven Parker, Bitch Ass excels as an immersive horror film where, although its tongue is planted firmly in its cheek, still clearly delights in setting up its complicated and at times comically macabre murder scenarios. The storyline is compelling enough, the characters and their journeys fleshed out…” AWFJ

“The script is overwritten and filled with broad stereotypes, and most of the time, the dialogue feels like a dead weight falling out of the actor’s mouths […] intends to be a homage to horror films in the 90s like The People Under the Stairs, but Bitch Ass makes no compelling social commentary. The audience has no reason to root for or against any of the characters on screen.” Black Girl Nerds

“It doesn’t deviate from the familiar formula at all. Still, Posley’s clever direction, a strong sense of style, and an entertaining twist to a new masked killer’s choice of weaponry make for an infectious time that’ll leave you curious to see whatever tales of terror Tony Todd may have in his collection.” 3/5 Bloody Disgusting

“Fans of the slasher subgenre will find a lot to like about Bitch Ass, from the way Bitch Ass dresses and his mask to the incomparable, blood-soaked kills. The cast is remarkable and the way the story is told, almost inviting the viewer to play along, is unbelievably creative. Bitch Ass is one of the most impressive slashers I’ve seen in a while…” Daily Dead

Bitch Ass knows it’s a horror movie that also serves as a partial comedy with some of its antics and never takes itself too seriously, but knows when to throw its punches and makes sure it lands that knockout. Bitch Ass has so much going for it: the script is tightly packed, the acting is top-notch…” Elements of Madness

“The script clearly comes secondary to the horror-show set-pieces, with an excess of uninteresting melodrama involving both the new 6th Street recruits and Bitch Ass himself, the latter’s tragic backstory doled out through several languorous, overlong flashbacks. A film clocking in at just 83 minutes shouldn’t feel quite so much of a chore to finish.” Flickering Myth

“Because of the darkly humorous tone established from the onset and the overall scrappy aesthetic of Bitch Ass, one can easily play along with its lapses in logic. Nevertheless, we are often too conscious that this movie is modern pastiche and wish the filmmaker had attempted to pair the narrative nostalgia at its core with the visuals…” IndieWire

“It’s cornier than Corn Hole, but “there’s a game for everyone,” as Bitch Ass likes to say, so if you like your horror with a side of cheese, you’re going to eat with this film. Bitch Ass is far from perfect, especially on a technical level, as it’s probably a little too ambitious for its own good, but none of its flaws takes away from the unique premise…” Killer Horror Critic

Bitch Ass may not have all the parts to make a great film, but this is a film I would rewatch with friends and family. The director held my interest even with some goofy practical effects. The film resides in the realm of Sleepaway Camp or Demons. Bitch Ass is zany, horror, slasher fun…” Nightmarish Conjurings

“For him to become the sort of beloved horror franchise icon that the filmmakers seem to want him to be – and that Todd’s Candyman certainly is – he will definitely need to up has game. Meanwhile, Bitch Ass can be savoured for its morally challenging playing field where victims are also perpetrators, and where nothing is black and white – not least because, in a radical move for horror, everyone is black.” Projected Figures

“The first Black masked serial killer is a fun addition to the slasher genre. The concept built around him is amusing, although it has poor execution. Fortunately, the film has a firm understanding of its tone and fully commits. However, it could have pushed the envelope much further.” Showbiz Cheat Sheet
