‘A legend will rise’
Kingslayer is a 2022 British historical action film about Richard the Lionheart, before he ascended to become King of England, as he must fight for his life and learn the responsibilities of leadership amidst a treacherous ambush.

Written, directed by and also starring Stuart Brennan (Wolf; The Necromancer; Plan Z).

The Stronghold production also stars John Rhys-Davies, David Hayman, Ryan Gage, Carolina Carlsson, Ian Hanmore, Mark Paul Wake, Sarina Taylor, David Haydn, Charlie Smith, John Wolfe, Mark Springer, Barry Smith and Ellie-Rose Mackinlay.

Release:
In the US, Kingslayer will be released on Blu-ray by Shout! Factory on October 18, 2022.

In the UK, Kingslayer was released on DVD by Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment on September 26, 2022.

Plot synopsis:
Soon to be crowned King of England, Richard the Lionheart has an attempted courtship turn quickly into a race for survival. Ambushed during a romantic encounter, Richard and his stable maid Lea, fight for their lives.

Bloodshed increases as Chaplain Anselm has come seeking his wayward King and is forced to fight his way into the forest, whilst Richard and Lea battle their way out. When their paths cross, the chaplain delivers the devastating news that the bolt that has injured Lea is most likely poisoned and her death imminent.

Laying his love to rest, Richard is admonished by the Chaplain and forced to confront his crown and the responsibilities it brings. Lea’s blood is on his hands.
