‘Three rings of hell!’
Big Top Evil is a 2019 American horror film about five disparate youths, on a road trip to the location of the infamous ‘mangrove slasher,’ who end up being pursued by a cadre of cannibal clowns.

Directed by Sean Haitz (short: Mangrove Slasher 2) and  Chris Potter from a screenplay written by Haitz and John Morrisey, the movie stars Bill Moseley, J. LaRose, Jisaura Cardinale and Austin Judd.

Reviews:
“The cast is pretty good for the most part. Bill Moseley is in the film as Mr. Kharver, the ringmaster of the deadliest show on Earth […] Big Top Evil is just plain fun. While it fails to deliver any scares and most of the characters are cookie-cutter kill count fodder, it is very well-paced. Plus, Haitz manages to use his resources to good effect…” 7 out of 10, Film Threat

“What makes Big Top Evil work, though, is the time the directors take to give the lead characters enough personality to make them more than just the next victim. Haitz, stepping in front of the camera, is effective as the guy narrating the terror he and his buddies go through, and Jisaura Cardinale does a nice job playing off him in both the early scenes…” Gruesome Magazine

“While the film is not perfect, any issues with the movie has more to do with the limitations and challenges of low budget indie filmmaking than with the talent of the writer and director. This leads me wanting to see what Sean Haitz could do with a larger budget. Big Top Evil surpasses other clown-themed indie horror films in both story and quality.” Horror n Kill

“… a lot of effort was put into producing this movie. I have to note the production designer and location manager for nabbing and creating the dozens of locations used in Big Top Evil. What this film lacks in polish and refinement, it more than makes up for in heart, creepiness and love of the genre.” Horror Society

The cinematography goes for more graphic and at times almost nauseating shots and angles featuring close-ups of sadistic playtime of the clowns’ scary moments. Haitz delivers a nice throwback to the b-movies, with a slight hint to the exploitation arena, especially with some of the extreme shots, it appears and feels like a grimy 70s meeting 80s flick…” 4 out of 10, The Horror Times

Big Top Evil had its moments. Some were great while others fell to the floor. The film is heavy on gore and provides practical effects that will make any horror fan cringe. I was mostly disgusted and grossed out through the entire movie, right up until the climatic clown chase […] The film’s shining light comes through horror veteran actor Bill Moseley.” Pop Horror

“Yet another run-of-the-mill cheapie that can boast about the appearance of a horror icon (Bill Moseley) while offering little else. The acting and gore are cheap as can be, while all else is rather mundane.” 1.5 out of 4, Splatter Critic

Big Top Evil is another wonderful film meshing clowns and horror but adds the likes of films such as 2001 Maniacs and Natural Born Killers, with a smooth-running 81-minute runtime full of gore, scares, and a few twists here and there.” World Film Geek
