Rosario is a horror film in which a grieving young woman is forced to spend the night with the body of her deceased grandmother while waiting for the ambulance; she is attacked by supernatural forces that have taken control of granny’s corpse.
Directed by Felipe Vargas, making his feature directorial debut, from a screenplay written by Alan Trezza (We Summon the Darkness; Burying the Ex). Produced by Phillip Braun, Javier Chapa and Jon Silk.
The American-Colombian Mucho Mas Media-Silk Mass co-production stars Emeraude Toubia, David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil; Oppenheimer; Dune; The Dark Knight), José Zúñiga (The Dark Tower), Paul Ben-Victor, Emilia Faucher, Diana Lein and Guillermo Garcia.
Plot:
Rosario (Emeraude Toubia), a successful stockbroker on Wall Street, is forced to spend the night with the body of her estranged grandmother Griselda who has abruptly died. While waiting for the ambulance and her father Oscar (José Zúñiga) to arrive, a heavy snowstorm locks her inside Griselda’s apartment, surrounded by unfriendly neighbours including the watchful Joe (David Dastmalchian).
As the night endlessly stretches on, twisted and menacing supernatural forces that have possessed Griselda’s corpse begin their assault on Rosario. Now the target of a deadly family curse that spans generations, Rosario must battle everything she knows about her past to save herself and her soul in a desperate attempt to break the evil.
Production:
Shooting on Rosario began late last year in Bogotá, Colombia and finished earlier this year in New York City. The movie, which is currently in post-production, is being sold internationally by Highland Film Group at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin.
