Background:
Producer Mark L. Lester has said: “I’m so excited for audiences to see this newly imagined horror version of Cinderella in theatres. The picture is scary and fun at the same time and horror fans will love it.”
Another producer commented: “Cinderella is the most famous fairy tale in the world. We were able to develop a great horror script that is also a female empowerment story with global appeal.”
External reviews:
“Staerck dons a scary but generic mask while picking off those who’ve wronged her character — it doesn’t take a genius to figure out who will make up the body count — and she does so in slasher fashion. It’s all very predictable. On the bright side, Cinderella’s carnage is amusing, at least on a surface level.” ★★ Bloody Disgusting
“It’s not without its charms, but Cinderella’s Revenge isn’t great. It is recommended only for people curious to see the latest movie in the current wave of public-domain stories adapted into horror movies. The bar isn’t particularly high for that kind of movie, and Cinderella’s Revenge sits somewhere in the middle of the pack.” ★★ Creepy Catalog
“When the real violence gets going, it’s suitably bloody, and will no doubt please some fans. Women who still have unhappy memories of the girls who picked on them in childhood may find it cathartic. Otherwise, this is an out-of-season pantomime with a great dame much not much else going on.” ★★ Eye for Film
“Not an exemplary horror or reboot, it remains a passably pulpy parody for fairy tale fiends. Campy kills and campier costumes engage appreciators of the absurd with absurdist abandon. Formula follows prescribed paces though fresh faces make fleeting forays fun. For frivolous fanciers of mythological mashups, this merry mess merits matinees.” Gazettely
“Cinderella’s Revenge needed to go full camp and it definitely needed more Natasha Henstridge to truly deliver on its premise. I really wanted to like this movie and I love low-budget slasher films, but this one seemed very confused about its actual intention, making this a puzzling and frustrating watch overall.” TV Fanatic Girl
“Overall, while Cinderella’s Revenge does have its issues, and probably should have started in on the killing a bit sooner, it’s certainly not a bad film and is well ahead of most of the other films aiming to ruin our childhood memories. There’s enough blood, bare skin, and general weirdness to warrant at least a one-time watch.” ★★★ Voices from the Balcony
