Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2
is a 2024 British horror slasher film and is obviously a sequel to Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023). The latter cost under $100,000 and took $5.2 million globally despite mostly negative reviews and many disappointed horror fans.

However, returning writer/director Rhys Frake-Waterfield has told Variety that the sequel will have a much bigger budget and be bloodier.

“In comparison to the first film, everything’s stepped up massively. It’s a horror film. A lot of the time people are going there for the death scenes and for those elements and we’ve really upped the ante. I think the last time I did a count there was over thirty deaths in the movie, which is quite substantial compared to most movies. I think that’s at least over three times what the first film had and there’s various massacres and stuff. So there’s a lot of blood and a lot of gore.”

Frake-Waterfield went on to say that the sequel’s budget is “over ten times” the budget for the first movie: “It was actually a bit easier this time because the budget is higher so it expands out your options. And I want them to be really, really crazy. I’ve given Winnie a signature weapon this time. In the other film, it was just anything he could pick up really, so it was like a sledgehammer or a bat. But one of his key weapons in this is a bear trap, which is very fitting…”

“So we got a really gruesome, scary one made. It looks awesome and he kills people in a variety of ways with it. And there’s some very, very cool set pieces. They were challenging to shoot but they’ll make for some crazy kills. There’s one sequence in the movie which is absolutely wild and I’m really excited for people to see it.”

Plot:
Deep within the 100-Acre-Wood, a destructive rage grows as Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Owl, and Tigger find their home and their lives endangered after Christopher Robin revealed their existence. Not wanting to live in the shadows any longer, the group decides to take the fight to the town of Ashdown, home of Christopher Robin, leaving a bloody trail of death and mayhem in their wake. Winnie and his savage friends will show everyone that they are deadlier, stronger, and smarter than anyone could ever imagine and get their revenge on Christopher Robin, once and for all.

The sequel will also tease more public domain terror, “teasing upcoming Pinocchio, Bambi and Peter Pan-based horror movies.”

The Hollywood Reporter previously reported: “Currently in production, the sequel comes with a bigger budget, more kills and even an Olivier Award-winning, BAFTA-nominated star in the form of Simon Callow (Four Weddings and a Funeral), who has joined the cast.”

Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield has commented: “Bigger and badder. The sequel will feature new creature designs, a new cast, and a high death count. However, this time Pooh and friends will be leaving the 100 Acre Wood to take their fight to the quiet community of Ashdown!”

“For our sequel, we have a substantially higher budget so Rhys is really able to create a shocking, explosive and gore-filled movie. I truly think people will really dig what we are creating,” added co-producer Scott Jeffrey.

Meanwhile, IGN revealed that the sequel will include Tigger who was absent from the first movie apparently due to copyright issues that won’t be a problem when the film is released in 2024.

Producer Scott Jeffrey told IGN: “Tigger is incredibly violent. He loves to torture his victims before killing them.”
