The Boxer’s Omen (Mo, 淫種) is a 1983 Hong Kong supernatural horror film directed by Kuei Chih-Hung. It was produced by the Shaw Brothers studio.

The film has a reputation as one of the most extreme Hong Kong horrors containing wild scenes of small animals emerging from various human beings’ orifices and a general air of psychedelic weirdness.

Reviews:

“Oddly, for such an intentionally repellent film, Boxer’s Omen also has more than its share of beauty, from gorgeous natural sights to radiant depictions of Buddhist righteousness. It’s this contrast that helps keep Boxer’s Omen from descending into pure degradation, and makes it an outstanding example of the schizophrenic nature of Hong Kong film.” David Austin, Cinema Strikes Back

“I’ve seen far more than my share of f*cked up, twisted  and utterly bat-shit movies in my time – after all this blog ain’t called Twisted Flicks for nothing. But this little gem may be one of THE most twisted movies I’ve ever seen. And I do not say this lightly.” Twisted Flicks

The Boxer’s Omen may dazzle the senses with all its bizarre imagery but the film as a whole is a failure with its incomprehensible plot, pilfered music from Alien, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Phantasm awkwardly placed throughout and shoddy special effects that induce laughter.” Eric Reifschneider, Blood Brothers

“There is a strong visual flair throughout the movie, especially during the more magical scenes that enhance the surrealism and make you believe in what you’re seeing — even if what you’re seeing is clearly a cheap rubber spider biting into somebody’s face.” Chris Purdie, Mondo Exploito
