” …it’s a fun film. It isn’t an overly serious and dark “extreme horror” film despite the gore, but it isn’t a by the numbers direct to DVD film either. This is a film made by a fan for fans, and hits all the right notes. We need more films like this…” Beneath the Underground
“The film itself feels like a VHS, with slight imperfections that were synonymous with the old format, which works extremely well for the type of film Todd Sheets has created. There’s blood, guts, naked bodies, horror and a splash of tongue-in-cheek humour which will appeal to the right audience.” Horror Cult Films
“House of Forbidden Secrets ranks among Sheets’ best, and might be the best. The plot is interesting and engaging, the gore is on point and the scares work, and most importantly, the story succeeds. This is a low budget movie, so of course everything isn’t perfect…” Horror News
” …despite taking forever to get moving and the annoying confusion that plagues the characters throughout the movie, the back story and slaughter scenes redeem the movie enough to make it worthwhile. The demon effects are well done…” Ravenous Monster
” …a nice throwback to low budget genre fare of the 1980s and early 1990s that’s focussed on driving its plot forward with outbursts of explicit violence, jump scares, bits of suspense and some grotesque images paving the way without any of today’s postmodern (self-)irony or an over-indulgence in easter eggs…” Search My Trash
“It was a fun watch with some good practical effects, an interesting plot, a great score by Fabio Frizzi, and some solid performances. I would definitely say find a copy of this one and check it out.” Tennessee Horror
“Haunted house movies are difficult enough to do right as it is, but using the more-is-more approach has never worked for ghost movies since they require subtlety to be spooky. Sheets is used to making splatter-fests and whole movies with people running around getting massacred, which may work for demons and zombies, but not here.” The Worldwide Celluloid Massacre
Unearthed Films released the movie on Blu-ray and DVD on November 13, 2018.
