Voodoo Rising is a 2016 American backwoods horror film produced and directed by Eddie Lengyel (The Sluagh Awakens; Mother Krampus 2: Slay Ride; The Curse of Lilith Ratchet; Scarred; Hellweek) from a screenplay co-written with Kris Smith (Mother Krampus 2: Slay Ride).

The movie stars April Needham (Hellementary: An Education in Death; The Slasher; Hellweek), Sarah Domanick (Post-Mortem; Legend of the Melonheads), Don Kilrain (Murder Machine!), Mark Cray (The Ritual; Head Cases: Serial Killers in the Delaware Valley; Scream Queen Campfire), Shaphan David Seiders, Robert S. Miller, Roger Conners (Chill: The Killing Games; Night of the Living Dead: Rebirth; New Blood Awakening).

Plot:

A group of friends decide to spend their last summer together by taking a trip to the rural camping destination of Black Hills. Once there, they find themselves in the middle of a deadly quarrel with a local family…

“It’s a tad on the long side as there was quite a bit of exposition leading up to the events that I don’t think quite paid off. That said, once we got into things what we got was a top notch “crazies in the woods” slasher with a story that, while it took nearly till the end of the film to come together, did so in a nice tidy package.
