‘Spend a night in her arms, spend an eternity in Hell!’

Night Angel – aka Hellborn – is a 1989 (released 1990) supernatural American horror feature film directed by Swiss-born Dominique Othenin-Girard (Omen IV: The Awakening; Halloween 5; After Darkness) from a screenplay written by Joe Augustyn (Night of the Demons and sequel) and Walter Josten. The movie stars Isa Jank [as Isa Andersen], Linden Ashby and Debra Feuer.

Special makeup effects were created by Steve Johnson’s XFX and KNB Effects Group.

Lilith, (Isa Andersen) an ancient demon, is reborn in the present as an attractive young woman. She starts going on a killing spree, which worries the head of a fashion magazine, Rita, (Karen Black) as all the victims are employees.

Craig, (Linden Ashby) the staff photographer, is caught between Lilith and Kirstie, (Debra Feuer) Rita’s sister, and as the murders of the magazine’s staff turn to the various models, he can’t help but notice that Lilith is always close by. When she starts dictating staff policies and directions, he fully believes that Lilith is something else and tries to stop her…

” …Othenin-Girard probably hoped that star Isa Janks would compensate for any issues. There are countless shots that linger on her features and slim body. While the role requires this, she is meant to be irresistible so her looks are a key part of illustrating this, it feels like over kill more often than not. […] It’s an example of how to mask a movies weaknesses by using a ‘hot chick’.” Infernal Cinema

“This turned out to be a pleasantly gory little jaunt.  Lilith’s slimy emergence, the infernal body-melding torture orgy party, people getting impaled through the torso, more than one scene with a heart rip life-drain that we get to fully see, and various cuts, slashes and stabs peppered in here and there.” Movies, Films and Flix

“The best sequence is a trip into Hell filled with sweaty rutting bodies, people kissing who turn to reveal their faces stuck together, a woman who lifts her breasts to reveal they are living heads, severed heads kissing and so on. However, upon every occasion, Othenin-Girard overplays the effect and it becomes heavy-handed.” Moria

“Dominique Othenin-Girard (Halloween 5) shoots the film competently and adds some new wave style to the proceedings… but the film plays clichéd and there isn’t enough nudity to keep you interested. A solid cast of decent actors seem almost wasted […] but the same can’t be said about the wooden and down-right terrible Isa Andersen.” 80s Horror Central
