‘We have our demons’
Fallen is an Italian horror film about a former exorcist fighting off pale humanoid creatures that prey by night.
Directed by Nicolò Fumero – making his film debut – from a screenplay co-written with Simone Chiattone and Francesco Lucci.
The Adrama production stars Andrea Zirio, Ortensia Fioravanti and Fabio Tarditi.
Plot:
Father Abraham was ready to save the world from an evil menace using exorcism — until tragedy struck. Years later, he lives on a remote farm with his daughter, haunted by the faces of those he saved and those he could not.
After finding a strange, pale humanoid creature lurking in the woods one night, he shoots and cremates the monster. However, all too soon he discovers that the beast was not alone and his troubles have only begun…
Reviews:
“The script is such a mess with its unlikable protagonist, undeveloped supporting characters, scenes that are never explained or connect with the rest of the story and not one but two lame twist endings […] Fallen is a major disappointment. What could have been Demons crossed with The Exorcist ends up being a couple of jump scares surrounded by a script full of crap.” Voices from the Balcony

MOVIES & MANIA says:
Fallen often looks good thanks to some good cinematography by Federico Alotto (although the nighttime sequences are manifestly underlit). Unfortunately, the narrative is threadbare, confusing and the acting is weak. The film begins in a vaguely promisingly manner but soon becomes a real chore to watch. Furthermore, the lead character of Father Abraham is so unlikeable most viewers will have zero empathy with his travails.
