Unborn is a 2022 American horror drama film about an expectant mother who suspects that her baby is possessed by Lilith, the wife of Satan. She also believes that the demonic spirit of her dead mother is responsible. Meanwhile, understandably, her wife questions her unstable state.

Directed by Steven R. Monroe (Harland ManorThe Exorcism of Molly HartleyGrave HalloweenMongolian Death Worm; Ogre; WyvernSasquatch Mountain; It Waits) from a screenplay written by Joe Rechtman (Honor Student; Resurrected). Produced by Stan Spry, John Tomko and Eric Scott Woods.

The Tubi Original production stars Jade Harlow (Dangerous Cult; Who Wants Me Dead?; In Bed with a Killer; Deadly Patient), Ella Thomas, Rich Ting and Kevin McCorkle.

Review:

Unborn is a surprisingly effective pregnancy horror entry with a relatable scenario and realistic dialogue by first-time scripter Joe Rechtman writing from a female perspective. The performances from leads Jade Harlow and Ella Thomas are convincing. The only downside is that the score by Contorted Minds (Harland Manor) is too low in the audio mix.

The fact that this is a Tubi Original – when they are still just starting to make their own productions – makes it all the more impressive. It still has the feel of a horror movie made for home viewing… yet slightly superior horror home viewing: “All hail Lilith.”

Other reviews:

Unborn takes a concept previously seen in other films like Rosemary’s Baby or The Omen but puts a different spin on it. Rather than telling us another story specifically about the spawn of Satan, Unborn focuses on a lesser-known entity in the Bible. An individual who was once human but became something out of our nightmares after defying God. The focus on this obscure individual makes Unborn worth checking out.” Horror Facts
