Plot:
A mysterious cursed box is found in Jukai Village, located in the hidden creepy part of Jukai Forest. Anyone that enters the area can never leave.
Thirteen years later, two sisters, Hibiki and Naki, are investigating multiple missing persons in the Jukai area. Are they meant to be there, or does some evil spiritual power draw them? Using their strong spiritual sense, Hibiki and her sister and their childhood friends find an ominous box by chance…
Reviews:
“There is more to this bizarre, over-the-top tale, much of which recalls Matango, Ishiro Honda’s 1963 sci-fi classic about man-eating mushrooms on a tropical island, though Shimizu’s telling is closer to cooked-up folklore. Those who venture into his “sea of trees” will not drown, but they just might be devoured.” The Japan Times
