‘The legend is born’
Almighty Thor is a 2011 American fantasy action film and a mockbuster of the first Thor Marvel movie starring Chris Hemsworth. When demon god Loki steals the Hammer of Invincibility, Thor strikes a mighty blow to get it back.

Directed by Christopher Ray [as Christopher Douglas-Olen Ray] (Circus KaneShark WeekMega Shark vs. Kolossus2-Headed Shark Attack; Megaconda) from a screenplay written by Eric Forsberg (ClownMega PiranhaMonster 2008; Alien Abduction; Night of the Dead: Leben Tod).

The Asylum production stars Cody Deal, Richard Grieco, (Jungle Run; Art of the Dead; Attack of the Unknown), Patricia Velasquez, Kevin Nash, Jess Allen, Nicole Arianna Fox, Leslea Fisher and Lauren Halperin.

“If a scene does not happen in a forest of some kind, then it happens in an alleyway. These are the two main locations throughout the film. CGI is used to create destruction, but it never does its job […] This is a film that has both Loki and Thor having an automatic gun fight and it fails to raise a smile.” Attack from Planet B

” …horrible acting, horrible effects, and a dreadful script with no plot and that doesn’t explain anything (How did Thor know Loki was on Earth in the first place? How did Thor know where to find Loki on Earth? Why was Thor such an immature brat and seemed to never learn from his mistakes and always refuse to listen to anyone that isn’t himself?” The B-Movie Shelf

“Much of the action happens off camera, in one climactic scene you can see the actors looking around (perhaps for direction, perhaps for police to shut down production). The film is loud. Really loud […] the film seems padded and plods.” Down Among the “Z” Movies

“Thor is a terrible hero.  He fails miserably on several occasions and never listens to help.  He succeeds by pure chance and is always needing saving. Valhalla is a CG Castle… which is European in design.  Thank you, Poser. 80% of the film takes place in Los Angeles.  It’s Masters of the Universe all over again!” Mondo Bizarro

” …the film isn’t without its letdowns (mostly budget-related), the costumes and sets in the period parts of the movie fail to really click, the monsters are too clearly CGI-creatures, and much of the destruction they cause doesn’t come to life on both a visual and emotional level. At least though the finale has some nice trippy portions to it, and the thing as a whole is pretty atmospheric.” Search My Trash

“I had a feeling that once the movie switched over to Earth, it has the potential to start getting good, but it only gets worse.  The reason for this is that Thor basically just chases Loki around in back alleys and or empty warehouses.  Then, when there is some action, it’s pretty much pathetic.  The effects are a complete joke too.” The Video Vacuum
