THE OCTOGAMES Review of action horror

‘8 Games. 8 Players. 1 Winner.’
The OctoGames is a 2022 American action horror film about people competing for the chance to take over the channel from a masked YouTuber.

Written, co-produced and directed by Aaron Mirtes (Painted in BloodOuija CraftThe Alpha TestCurse of the NunAmerican HuntClowntergeist). Also produced by Madison Eby.

Plot synopsis:
Eight contestants are selected to participate in eight deadly children’s games, all seeking fame and fortune beyond their wildest dreams. Competing for the chance to take over the YouTube channel of the globally famous yet elusive masked YouTuber known only as “JaxPro”, the brutal games unfold.

Alliances are made, love is found, enemies are born, and villains try to cheat their way to victory. Meanwhile, “JaxPro” must run the games without his identity being revealed and must prepare to disappear for good once the winner of the games is announced…

Reviews:
“Despite the very familiar material and low budget, Mirtes gets considerable mileage out of The OctoGames situations. Smartly he keeps the challenges to things that can be shot on a budget rather than resort to bad CGI. And the prospect of a lethal game of hopscotch or musical chairs has a certain twisted appeal to it […] There’s also a bit of behind-the-scenes drama involving JaxPro and his girlfriend Luna…” 3.5 out of 5, Voices from the Balcony
