Terrifier 3 is a 2024 horror film that continues to depict the depraved and murderous activities of Art the Clown… at Christmas!
The Dark Age Cinema-Fuzz on the Lens Productions movie again stars David Howard Thornton and Lauren LaVera. Veteran genre actor Daniel Roebuck plays Santa Claus. Bloody Disgusting quoted Roebuck. “I’m actually entering into the movies that I watch. It’s extraordinary. This is Terrifier bigger, badder, best.”
Writer-director Damien Leone previously said: “We’re going to have a bigger budget. We’re shooting in anamorphic widescreen, so I want it to feel more like an old-school John Carpenter movie. It’s going to still have that epic feel of part two, but now have the tone of part one with Christmas. It’s going to be a completely different beast. It’s going to look different. It’s going to feel different, but it’s still going to have everything you love in it. But it’s going to be very fresh. It’s not going to be like you’re sitting through part one or two all over again.”

Director Damien Leone has been interviewed by JoBlo – watch the video below – about how the opening scene of Terrifier 3 is so “controversial” that movie studios would never approve it.
“So mark my words, I guarantee you the first five minutes of this movie is going to be very controversial,” said Leone. “But that’s not even the big kill scene. So like that’s why I was like, I need to just make this movie on my own, because it’s just too… it’s too insane.”

Damien Leone explained that he met with Hollywood studios interested in developing a third movie. However, they had major concerns about the level of gore featured. Hearing their concerns and believing studios would be quick to turn down five pages of Leone’s script was enough for him to realise it was in the movie’s best interest if he made it independently so he could give audiences more of the franchise’s notorious blood and guts.

Reviews:
“While its grand finale left me wanting more, the film’s explosive climax couldn’t feel more vile and intense. The performances don’t miss a beat and the brutality is off the charts. With severed limbs and blasphemous imagery abound, Terrifier 3 leaves some of the most desensitized fans’ jaws on the floor.” 1428 Elm
“Terrifier 3 represents the furthest a modern horror movie has gone in a while. Whether or not that’s a good thing is up to the viewer’s particular taste, but it’s undoubtedly gutsy. If the Terrifier project’s goal is to build a totally singular, boundary-annihilating experience that will rattle even the most seasoned gorehounds, Terrifier 3 might be Damien Leone’s masterpiece.” 8/10 But Why Tho?

“If you’re already a fan of the Terrifier series, this latest entry won’t be a waste of your time. There is enough going on that will please super fans, despite the weak script. If the earlier films weren’t really your thing, this one probably won’t be either. But either way, Art the Clown is back with a vengeance, and Christmas just got a little more bloody.” ★★★ Daily Dead
“Terrifer 3 delivers the goods, and then some. With a bigger budget at his disposal – and therefore a broader canvas – Damien Leone has crafted a slasher for the ages, one that will cement Art’s place alongside the likes of Freddy, Michael, and Jason. The supernatural stuff is the movie’s weakest material, with the mythology a bit too vague.” ★★★★ Dexerto

“The fantasy-tinged nightmare of Terrifier 3 is truly unlike anything else out there right now, and for jaded horror fans hoping to be jolted into feeling something, anything, about the slasher genre in an age where many filmmakers just repeat the greatest hits, this kind of a transgressive, gonzo audacity is a nasty cattle prod to good taste. And even if that’s not your thing, that’s healthy for the genre in the long run, right? Horror was never supposed to be nice.” 7/10 /Film
“Thanks to the impassioned work from the filmmakers, performers, and art department, this sequel proves yet again that this offensively vile gem of a franchise is worth sticking around for. It will continue to reward us with more delicious trash that appeals to our hungry little rat brains.” B+ Film Snob Reviews
“With Terrifier 3, Damien Leone cements his cult series’ place among genre diehards while delivering another showcase for practical gore aficionados. Though narrative strengths fade beside brazen brutality, no one executes viscera with the finesse of this unflinching auteur. Fans will feast on fresh feats of Yuletide savagery, while others recoil from the unbridled madness.” 8/10 Gazettely
” …this stuff isn’t as easy to pull off as it looks. The number of horror films that promise to sicken your soul and shrivel your stomach is enormous, but the proportion that actually do so, particularly for veteran horror watchers, is small. I’m pleased to report that Terrifier 3 is genuinely gruesome; your own mileage may vary, but it’s not for the faint of heart.” ★★★★ The Guardian
“A near constant onslaught of blood, gore and goo, Terrifier 3 ups the ante from its predecessors. Sure to be a hit with the Terrifier crowd, this third outing might just be the most gruesome yet, with several deaths set to immediately rocket to the top of ‘Terrifier best kill’ lists everywhere. Christmas has never been redder, nor victims deader, than in Terrifier 3…” ★★★★ The Hollywood News

“If you’re a fan of the franchise, sit back and enjoy Terrifier 3. If you’re new to it, this is the most layered and thorough entry of the series, setting the stage for exciting things to come. Adding a Christmas theme was a great choice—it finally feels like we got the “Bad Santa” we always wanted.” ★★★★½ Horror Movies Uncut
“The third installment might not push boundaries solely through violence. However, it certainly includes scenes that will linger in viewers’ minds. Yet it’s the underlying themes and intensity that might provoke the most outcry […] Leone’s expertise in practical effects is undeniable. For those who appreciate visceral gore, this film is a must-see in the horror genre.” ★★★★ Mother of Movies
“If you have a strong stomach and are a die-hard fan of practical gore effects, then you’ll probably find a lot to appreciate here. However, if you’re looking for a horror film with a compelling story or well-developed characters, you should look elsewhere. While Terrifier 3 is undeniably impressive on a technical level, its lack of narrative depth and sole focus on gore limits its appeal.” ★★★ Random Movie
“Leone continues to expand the series mythos with supernatural-bordering-on-fantasy piffle that feels as half-formed and unserious as Sienna’s pain is sharp and penetrating […] For a series as transgressive as Terrifier, though, this third film crystallizes the theme of good versus evil that the previous two films gesture toward, asserting an old-school morality in a world of angels and demons with a conclusion that’s thoroughly rotten with aberrated Catholic iconography.” 3 out of 4, Slant Magazine
