Reviews:
“Instead of panic in the ocean, there are dim-witted pirates, diving challenges, and basic screenwriting (credited to Chad Law and Josh Ridgway). Suspense isn’t invited to the endeavor, and while film fanatics might get a charge out of Dreyfuss’s appearance, they probably won’t feel much of anything for the rest of this flat, lifeless chiller.” ★½ Blu-ray.com

“Full of cliche-riddled dialogue and bizarre flashbacks, this basic effort is only saved by a tacked-on lecture from Jaws star Dreyfuss.” ★★ The Guardian

” …the film presents two redeeming qualities: its concise runtime and the consistent performance of Scout Taylor Compton, who effectively embodies the final girl archetype. While I didn’t expect Into the Deep to match some of the classic shark films, I was at least hoping the creatives would have fun with the premise. However, this is one shark film that has no bite. C- Reviews and Dunn

“The film has obvious budget constraints, including the sharks’ effects and the fact that our sinking boat never looks like sinking. Yet, you forgive these as there is more than enough charm and thrills within the film to hook you in. They utilise their underwater moments very well; in fact, some are quite marvellously shot as we see our cast struggle to complete the missions put onto them by the pirates.” ★★★ Upcoming on Screen

“While not as good as it could have been, Into the Deep is still better than a lot of recent entries in the shark attack or crime genre. It also has the good sense to keep itself to a quick ninety minutes so it doesn’t start to drag, except during the flashbacks.” ★★★ Voices from the Balcony
