Trap is a 2024 mystery thriller about a father and his daughter at a pop concert which is revealed to be a sting designed to catch The Butcher, a sadistic serial killer who has been evading authorities. Star Josh Hartnett recently described the movie as “very bizarre” and “very dark.”
The movie was written, directed and co-produced by by M. Night Shyamalan (Knock at the Cabin; Old; Glass; Split; The Visit; After Earth; The Last Airbender; The Happening; Lady in the Water; The Village; Signs; Unbreakable; The Sixth Sense; Wide Awake; Praying with Anger). Also produced by Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock. The executive producer is Steven Schneider.
The Blinding Edge Pictures production stars Josh Harnett as mentioned above plus Hayley Mills, Marnie McPhail, Vanessa Smythe, Scott Ian MacDougall, Kristi Woods and Cali Lorella. The movie also features the director’s daughter and real-life recording artist Saleka Shyamalan as the fictional pop star Lady Raven.
Trap is Shyamalan’s first film made under his new deal with Warner Bros which has been described as a “multi-year first-look directing and producing agreement. It is the filmmaker’s sixteenth movie in his lengthy career.

Trap will be released theatrically nationwide in the US by Warner Bros on August 9, 2024.
