Reviews:
” …the house looks good and emits a genuinely creepy air. The spirits and gore and such all appear practical rather than digital, and that eschewing of the computer medium in favor of real, tangible effects boosts the movie in a way rarely seen in an Asylum title […] Unfortunately, the movie is hamstrung by an unimaginative script…” Blu-ray.com

” …there is nothing here which is new but it does have a strange tone as at times it seems like it is trying to be a serious and creepy horror but then there will be something humorous tossed in to the mix and even a brief topless scene for good measure.” The Movie Scene

…a fairly standard teenagers alone in a haunted house concept, with the acting passable but the story a little stretched. It is though a one location feature, so all credit to it for not becoming a bore-fest and maintaining interest throughout its ninety minutes. It has a good level of atmosphere coupled with a few very creepy sequences largely due to the practical effects…” The Schlock Pit

Whaley House does not play as your standard issue horror fluff. There are scenes that are reminiscent of The Amityville Horror, and The Exorcist, where the scary parts are genuinely scary, without any qualifiers. However, true to the Asylum business model, amidst all the terror, they manage to squeeze out a short and extraneous nudity scene, courtesy of Mindy Robinson.” Matchflick

“I liked the look of the ghosts, one of young adults turned into a freaky spectre which was a little jarring, helped by the fact that the actor looks pretty freaky to begin with, there were a couple of a decent jump scares in the movie for those who aren’t immune to that kind of thing, as I have unfortunately become over the years, and I also like the goo monster that was roaming around terrorizing folks…” Film Critics United

” …some post-modern hipster references to Fulci and Argento adds a smidgen of a Scream-esque nineties vibe to the movie’s dialogue, but there’s still plenty of gore and one scene that’s obviously in the movie just so a really hot blonde can show off her amazing tits, that’s very 80’s in all the best ways you can think of.” CHUD.com
