Restart the Earth is a 2021 post-apocalypse science fiction film about killer plants that have engulfed the world’s cities.

Directed by Lin Zhenzhao (Snakes 3: Dinosaur vs. Python; Junkrat Train; The Enchanting Phantom; Snakes 2; Monkey King: The Volcano; Snakes; Pen Fairy vs. Sadako).

The Chinese movie stars Mickey He (Cold Steel; Detective Dee: The Mystery of the Phantom Flame), Mi Luo (Monkey King: The Volcano; The Ex-File 3: The Return of The Exes) and Michelle Ye (Insanity; Overheard 2 and 3; Dream Home; Murderer).

Plot:

To fight desertification caused by global warming, human beings developed special chemicals to promote the reproduction of plant cells, but accidentally liberated the plant stress system and awakened the plant intelligence. Over-proliferating plants quickly engulfed cities and attacked humans. A global green tide that can cause the disappearance of human civilization is about to strike.

A global joint action team was dispatched to implement drugs to suppress plant activities. The Chinese team and the survivors met in danger, traversed the ruins of the city and worked together to complete the difficult task…

Reviews:

“As we all know, Chinese CGI can sometimes be a bit ropey, that is somewhat true here but it’s more than serviceable, however, some of it is really good and the scenery of the overgrown/post-apocalyptic city is the star of the show, I was truly amazed at the visuals. The plant/monster things were very cool.” Nublingnoob
