BUTTERFLY KISSES (2018) Reviews of found-footage mockumentary

‘2004  2015 Soon’
Butterfly Kisses is a 2018 American horror found-footage mockumentary film written and directed by Erik Kristopher Myers.

The Four-Fingered Films production stars Gavin York, Alyssa Dalgleish and Consuelo M. Edwards.

Plot:
Gain York, a filmmaker, discovers a box of video tapes marked ‘Don’t watch’ depicting two students’ disturbing film project featuring a local horror legend, The Peeping Tom or The Blink Man. As he sets out to prove this story is real and release it as a work of his own, he loses himself and the film crew following him into his project…

Reviews:
“Once again Erik Kristopher Myers deserves some serious praise for not only creating this unique story but filming it in such a foresighted fashion.  Even ‘found footage’ haters would bend to this vision, after getting over themselves of course.” Ain’t It Cool News

“The way Gavin’s life slowly crumbles as he digs deeper into the legend becomes an unusual testament to the madness and self-destruction that can ensue with obsession […] Erik Kristopher Myer’s Butterfly Kisses is a strong horror film and one you should seek out if you want something a different with your found footage horror.” Cinema Crazed

” …the onscreen scares in Butterfly Kisses are minimal, but the film does succeed at inducing a general feeling of apprehension. Seeing the tapes of Sophia and Feldman talking about their experiences with Peeping Tom causes your imagination to run wild and results in psychological terror that is much scarier than any jump scare.” Nightmarish Conjurings

“It takes a lot to scare me nowadays and while this came across as more mysterious than anything there were a few moments that worked on me effectively. Regardless of this the way it has been put together is nothing short of wonderful with a feeling of descending into an inescapable nightmare slowly building up over the 90 minute run time.” The Rotting Zombie

“There were strong performances by all involved but kudos to Gavin York for sure. You’ll love him, you’ll hate him, you’ll almost feel sorry for him but nah… I think you’ll enjoy the ghost hunters as well. And Erik Kristopher Myers seemed just as comfortable in front of the camera so double kudos to him.” Screamfix

“When the focus shifts from the original footage to the descent and increasing passion of Gavin and the concerns of those around him, it becomes a powerful study of obsession rather than folklore with numerous surprising revelations. If you think the subgenre is done and finished, Butterfly Kisses might change your mind…” Starburst
