Reviews:
“Even though it’s far from being special, the performances given by the line-up for the acting department of this film are enough to help the quality of the presentation of Jailangkung: Sandekala as a whole not to sink any deeper. Still, the weak ability of story scripts to provide qualified character development – which is directly proportional to the poor quality of conflict and story development – makes Jailangkung: Sandekala leave a lot of bad memories in the minds of every viewer.” Amir at the Movies [translated from Indonesian]

“Even though it looks like it can present a horror nuance well, it turns out that Jailangkung: Sandekala ends up being ridiculous. Regardless of the intention of the filmmaker to do it on purpose or not, the appearance of a funny impression that is out of place and time actually messes up the building of the horror film itself.” Montase Film [translated from Indonesian]

“The setup and ‘stage’ are actually more immersive, but the story doesn’t seem to be able to keep up. Ultimately, yes it just becomes generic horror. Even though this film has the potential to become a deep and weighty family horror drama. But it almost seems as if there are limits that horror filmmakers must obey, namely not to be too deep. This limitation should be demolished together. ” 5.5 out of 10 gold stars, My Dirt Sheet [translated from Indonesian]

“The plot of bad luck that suddenly occurs has to be presented in order to prepare for the last sadistic scene, which will remind us of the terrible scenes from Hereditary (2018) and Rumah Dara (2009). In order to make the audience smile as well, once again Kimo did not forget to insert comedic situations from supporting characters who were scared.” 5 out of 10, Notes of Hobbies [translated from Indonesian]
