Reviews:
“Visually, it is stunning. Director Sitisiri Mongkolsiri and writer/producer Kongdej Jaturanrasamee have crafted an apt culinary thriller bolstered by the performances of the talented cast. Just hunker down with some popcorn to satisfy the food cravings that will erupt during your viewing, and prepare for the visual feast.” 9 out of 10, But Why Tho?

“The film is beautifully directed and shot. It might be a bit too long and slow for some, but I am confident that most people will get caught up in the story and follow Aoy to the end of her journey. Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying continues to impress with each of her performances, and it becomes clear that she will get even better as the years pass. Hunger is the best Netflix movie of the year so far.” 9 out of 10, Fiction Horizon

“Hunger is an exceptional culinary drama film with all its horror tones, which, unfortunately, the execution is stuck in the complexity of the message and the depth of the story […] For all its accomplishments, Hunger has a simple statement that has nothing to do with social commentary. As expensive and delicious as the food out there, nothing can beat the food we eat at home.” Montase Film

“The performances are excellent here. Bhumibhat Thavornsiri as Au has his moments to shine. Gunn Svasti as Tone is charming and has a good presence onscreen. Nopachai Chaiyanam as Chef Paul is brilliant and quite intimidating with his mannerisms. He does send a shiver down your spine every time he appears onscreen, simply because his character was quite unpredictable.” Popcorn Reviews

“While the script offers little in the way of groundbreaking insight into the human condition – that is, until it ends on a note of surprising ambiguity not witnessed up to that point – Chutimon delivers another captivating performance of controlled understatement. Conveying more emotion in a single silent scowl than many actresses of her generation could manage in a lengthy histrionic monologue, the 27-year-old proves once again to be in a league of her own.” South China Morning Post

” …as Chef Paul increasingly reveals, sometimes it is less about the food and more about the name. The experience and status of it all matter more than the sustenance. It’s all quite interesting, and as Aoy comes to realize this, you see a shift in her and how she approaches not only food but the concept of what it means to be a chef.” Wherever I Look
