Reviews:
” …the body count is high with this one. The practical effects work is the real star here, with gore galore on full, frequent display. Bakemono became an endurance test of stabbings, slicings, and body parts separated from their owners one way or another […] all of which I felt became overkill after a while, with the practical effects overshadowing the plot.” Horror Fuel
“This all might be a tad confusing, if intentionally so, but it’s also quite fascinating as the film pretty much sucks the viewer in by its non-linear, often associative narrative style that keeps one guessing, while the genre-savvy directorial effort is sure to appeal to horror fans, making this a very unique and utterly worthwhile cinematic experience.” Search My Trash
“Towards the end, it did start to feel like a bit of overkill, and I would have traded a couple of disposable victims for a bit more character development, though. The result is an ambitious, if flawed film, that should find an audience with both fans of experimental film and gorehounds.” ★★★ Voices from the Balcony
