Amityville Karen is a 2022 American comedy horror film about an unpleasant woman who pays dearly for stealing a bottle of cursed wine.

Directed by and co-starring Shawn C. Phillips (director of Amityville Shark House; Amityville Bigfoot; Scream Bloody Murder) from a screenplay written by Julie Anne Prescott (Amityville Bigfoot; Night of the Zomghouls).

The movie also stars Lauren Francesca, James Duval, Dawna Lee Heising and Mike Ferguson.

Plot:
Every neighbourhood has a Karen (Lauren Francesca), and Amityville is no exception. When stealing a cursed bottle of wine from a struggling local winery, Karen soon finds that the price to pay is far more dangerous than your average hangover. Everyone in her path becomes prey, and not even a manager can be called in to stop her…

Reviews:
” …this movie may not need to be an hour and forty-five minutes. It could get tighter, but that said, it does have a death by corkscrew, which is always something that I enjoy in a film […] This is Phillips’ first solo film and he was wise to get Francesca as his lead. She’s really great in the role and is understated when you expect this to be out of control the whole time.” B&S About Movies

“Mainly focuses on comedy, in which every joke falls flat before the punchlines are even reached. This might also have the most unpleasing cast even assembled, and though that might sound like a cheap shot, this overlong bore does nothing but incite rage.” 1 out of 4, Splatter Critic

” …did we need the ten full minutes of news anchors and social media videos of people talking about Karen at the end?  Making fun of “Karens” is about the lowest-hanging fruit imaginable.  Because of that, a horror comedy about a possessed Karen should’ve been a can’t-lose proposition.  Too bad the filmmakers couldn’t even wring one decent laugh out of the premise.” ★ The Video Vacuum

Amityville Karen shows flashes of talent and does have the occasional scene that hits the mark. Unfortunately, it never manages to string enough of them together to overcome the script’s flaws. And as a final insult to the viewer, it ends on a series of mostly awful segments that look like “be in the movie” perks from the crowdfunding campaign.” 1.5/5, Voices from the Balcony
