Patient -Zero-Matt-Smith-poster

Patient Zero is a 2016 American-British fantasy horror thriller feature film directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky (Anatomy and sequel) from a screenplay by Mike Le (Dark Summer).

The movie stars Matt Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), Natalie Dormer (The Forest), Stanley Tucci (Jack the Giant Slayer; The Lovely Bones), Clive Standen (Doctor Who), Agyness Deyn and John Bradley-West.

Those familiar with Le’s script have described it as containing “a rich mythology” with the potential to reinvent the zombie genre just as Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s 28 Days Later did in 2002.

After a pandemic outbreak, a mutated form of rabies results in most humans being turned into a highly intelligent new species known as “The Infected”: a human survivor, Morgan (Matt Smith), with the ability to talk with the “infected,” investigates these species and pursues “Patient Zero” to find an antidote to save humanity, including his infected wife.

Aiding Morgan on the mission to find Patient Zero is CDC virologist Doctor Gina Rose (Natalie Dormer), leading the scientific research efforts, while Colonel Knox (Clive Standen) is in charge of the military front…

” …despite a few fun moments here and there, Patient Zero feels like someone tried to make their own unofficial 28 Days Later sequel, kinda screwed up somewhere along the line, and salvaged what they could. It’s kind of a mess but at least it’s not boring.” Scott Weinberg. Bloody Disgusting
