‘Who watches you when you sleep?’

After She Wakes is a 2019 American horror film written and directed by David Arthur Clark (shorts: The Trees; #YoureDead), based on his 2018 short Wake. The Wake Pictures-Zado Films production stars Hannah Ward, Conrad Goode, Nicola Lambo and Micah Parker.

Plot:

After the tragic death of her baby son, Danni (Hannah Ward), a narcoleptic mother with a young daughter, suffers from terrifying sleep disruptions as she tries to deal with ongoing pain and grief.

Danni and her daughter begin experiencing different episodes of parasomnia including night terrors and sleep paralysis, leaving them unable to move and only able to witness horrific visions. These nightmares become too disturbing as they create a rift in their own realities causing Danni to believe someone or something is watching her sleep every night.

Soon, the terrifying visions from their dreams begin to manifest into a sinister reality, leaving Danni vulnerable, trying everything she can to protect her family from the unwanted intruder…

” …the biggest problem with After She Wakes is that it feels extremely repetitive: the movie keeps repeating the same structure, comprised of drama in the day, horror in the night, jump to the past, and repeat […] This is not a great horror film, but it’s a very well-made movie considering its non-existent budget and the inexperience of everyone involved.” Horror World & Reviews
