Rebel Moon is a forthcoming science fiction fantasy adventure film directed by Zack Snyder for Netflix. Synder is producing and directing the movie from a screenplay co-written with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, the pair behind the storyline.
Snyder has said: “This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan. It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.”
The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that Rupert Friend (Homeland) and Stuart Martin (Army of Thieves) have both been cast in the film. Friend will star as the film’s lead villain.
The previously announced cast includes Charlie Hunnan, Ray Fisher, Djimon Hounsou, Bae Doona, Sofia Boutella, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi and Sky Yang.
Plot:
A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate people dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighbouring planets to help them make a stand.
Production on Rebel Moon is scheduled to begin in April and last until November.
