Reviews:
Glass Onion isn’t breaking any particularly new ground with what it’s saying or how it does it. But man, is it ever fun to play along as the murderous madness unfolds […] a funny, sunny follow-up to Rian Johnson’s hit whodunnit with killer performances from a very game Kate Hudson and Janelle Monáe.” 3.5 out of 5, Dread Central

“Johnson’s more extravagant and often indulgent sequel will likely find those who prefer it to the original, it’s so stuffed with so much that it’ll surely prove more fun to those who appreciate getting more bang for their buck. It’s hard not to have fun when Johnson pulls the strings, I just wish he’d not pulled quite so many and quite so hard.” 3 out of 5, The Guardian

” …Johnson can’t resist the urge to go a little bigger, with the climax taking advantage of that Netflix budget. The 139-minute running time is perhaps a little indulgent, but after a bit of a slow start, things move along at a nice pace. It takes a while to settle into the mystery, but once the key players get to Greece, the film is off to the races…” JoBlo

” …with a crisp, biting screenplay written by Johnson as well the performances of the entire cast (including many cameo appearances that are all laugh-out-loud moments), Glass Onion gives fans of the first film more of what they loved about it while also telling a different type of story. This film is an absolute crowd-pleaser…” Movie Birb

“Rian Johnson has done it again! The sequel to his brilliant whodunit Knives Out is also great fun thanks to a playful cast and a script that does a few things and always surprises. In contrast to the predecessor, the great tension is missing, but this is easily made up for with a good extra portion of humor.” 5 out of 6, Out Now [translated from German]

“This time around, Johnson adds even more satirical comedy with a focus on power and social dynamics. It’s a reflection on the world we’re living in right now […] There’s something meta about this being a Netflix original movie and characters being disruptors. But anyway, he takes the audience on a roller coaster and gives viewers new characters that are just as compelling and engaging as the original film.” Solzy at the Movies

“The story starts out a bit sluggishly, but a second-act twist puts things on the right track, and it’s nothing but satisfaction from that point on. I won’t give away too much, but I can say that Johnson’s eye for big spectacle, which was on display in the best moments of The Last Jedi but less so in the first Knives Out, is there in a huge way here. ” Tilt

” …Glass Onion is a serviceable capitalization on the success of Knives Out. There’s nothing about it that strikes as particularly memorable or necessary, and the hodgepodge of plot points and casting choices seem emblematic of filmmaking by algorithm. Those without Netflix subscriptions aren’t necessarily missing out.” The Wrap
