Reviews:

“As unfocused as Roberts’s film can feel at times, as well as the dramatic limits created by a cast that is largely one person slowly going out of their gourd, there’s no denying that Older Gods is a powerful piece of filmmaking. As Rivers, Wilson does very good ‘persecuted’ and his descent into the emotional abyss is well supported by some great camerawork and a moody score by Gerald Buckfield. Not perfect then, but a triumph of overcoming cinematic adversity, and a worthy addition to the Lovecraft film canon.” Dark Eyes of London

” …overstuffed with corny dialogue in a bit of a lingering scene. Despite this, Older Gods remains a stunning, dread-soaked edition to cosmic horror. Wilson tosses the film on his shoulders and, thanks to Robert’s excellent script and extensive direction, creates a horror drama the viewer can lose themself in.” Horror Obsessive

“A sense of pregnant uneasiness assails, with the main character forced to take refuge in that dwelling in the middle of nowhere, with the nearby forest that seems to conceal arcane and ancient dangers and dark presences that torment first his nights and then also his days, always more threatening in what is on balance a sort of preparation for the final showdown…” 3.5 out of 5, Movieplayer [translated from Italian]

Older Gods is a well-made and suspenseful horror film that defies its budget restrictions by managing to create a successful movie containing some strong performances from its cast. It’s not only sure to please fans of the genre but also casual movie fans looking for an interesting take on an old favourite.” 4.5 out of 5, Screen Critix

” …some effective sound design and an emotionally charged standout performance from Rory Wilson as Chris and what Roberts has ended up with is a supernatural horror of Lovecraftian proportions which is able to shock, stun and shift you to the edge of your seat in equal measure.” 4 out of 5, UK Film Review
