‘Horror from the heavens’
Apex Predators 2: The Spawning is a 2024 horror film about mutated, flying sharks wreaking havoc along the beach during an annual volleyball tournament.
The movie is a sequel to Apex Predators (2021), one of the worst sharksploitation films ever made with hardly any sharks (mostly stock footage) and lots of padding. Hence, it’s a shame that Dustin Ferguson has cynically devised a sequel and based it on Piranha II: Flying Killers (1982).
Directed and edited by Dustin Ferguson (Spider Baby; Space Sharks; Mega Ape; Beyond the Gates of Hell; Amityville in the Hood; Zombi VIII: Urban Decay; Apex Predators; Ebola Rex vs. Murder Hornets; Rattlers 2; Arachnado; Amityville Toybox and many, many more) from a screenplay co-written with Jennifer Nangle. Produced by Rob Hauschild and executive produced by Brad Banacka.
The movie stars Vernon Wells, Christopher Showerman, Traci Burr, Janet Lopez, Jennifer Nangle, Sparkle Soojian, Christine Twyman, Brad Banacka, Charles Chudabala, Eric Larsen, Ben Anderson, Breana Mitchell and Nick Caisse.
