THE SCRIBBLER (2014) Reviews and overview

The Scribbler is a 2014 American science fiction murder mystery film directed by John Suits and written by Daniel Schaffer, based on his own graphical novel of same name. The film stars Katie Cassidy, Garret Dillahunt, Eliza Dushku, Kunal Nayyar, Michelle Trachtenberg and Sasha Grey.

Suki (Katie Cassidy) is a young woman confronting her destructive mental illness using “The Siamese Burn,” an experimental machine designed to eliminate multiple personalities. The closer Suki comes to being “cured,” she’s haunted by a thought… what if the last unwanted identity turns out to be her…?

“While The Scribbler may not have the mega-budget effects of your Avengers and your Man of Steels, I think it did a beautiful job on portraying the alters. Most of this is based on performances, but the effects are just enough to add to the moment without overwhelming the actors.” Horror Honeys

“Shot on a budget that would put Marvel Studios to shame, the The Scribbler is a superb blend of science fiction and traditional murder-mystery that, when all’s said and done, turns out to be one the THE best superhero origin movies committed to celluloid. The last time I saw an independent comic turned movie that was this good was The Crow.” Phil Wheat, Nerdly

The Scribbler was released on September 19, 2014.
