Bad CGI Sharks is a 2019 American comedy horror film about two estranged brothers who are brought back together when a script they’re writing comes to life and sends a poorly rendered digital shark to hunt them down in this meta take on the sharksploitation genre.
Written and directed by Jason Ellsworth, Matthew Ellsworth and Matteo Molinari (Silence of the Hams) [as MaJaMa], the movie also stars this trio alongside Jenn Liu, Josh Sterling and Shaun Landry.

“Watching Matthew and Jason work together and finally put aside their differences is the real treat here. Even with its micro-budget, the film crackles with so much enthusiasm, you scarcely notice. It’s full of catchy music, clever visuals and a sarcastic-yet-sweet attitude.” Pop Horror
“I can’t decide whether Bad CGI Sharks fulfills its niche. Or what the niche really is. Is this comedy, horror, or film camp? I’m going with the latter — a straight-up camp parody […] I’m going to stick with “Intentionally Terrible” Run Pee
“The creators and compositors know exactly what they’re doing. You wouldn’t be laughing so hard if they didn’t. Then again, this is the film’s mission. Bad CGI Shark isn’t perfect, but it’s hilarious. It breaks the fourth wall constantly, and the dialogue will make you piss your pants.” Tales of Terror
“Short on gore, but rich in heart and ideas, this is a pretty good silly shark movie by and for lovers of bad shark movies. In amongst the sophomoric humour, there’s some sharper satire and even some biting social commentary. Some bad shark movies are a chore to watch, but Bad CGI Sharks is not one of them…” What the Craggus Saw
“This self-aware CGI terror adds a new layer of terrible to the sharksploitation sub-genre of horror, turning terrible into comedy full of blood and guts and butts […] Bad CGI Sharks is bad but through witty dialogue, the ability to have fun with itself, the Ellsworth brothers performances and passion behind the project, it left me feeling chummy.” Without Your Head
